Emotion-focused Therapy for Complex Trauma (EFTT)

Emotion focused therapy for Trauma is an integrative model that extends and tailors the general theory of emotion-focused therapy to the area of interpersonal trauma. The treatment model is broadly applicable to complex interpersonal trauma, including recent application with immigrant and refugee victims of torture.

Emotion-Focused Therapy Summer Training Institutes

The 15th Annual Toronto Summer EFT Institutes with Dr. Greenberg and his EFT colleagues will be held in Toronto from August 13-16, 2012 (Level One) and August 20-23, 2012 (Level Two)

Level One (August 13 - 16, 2012)

This intensive 4-day training Institute provides participants with solid grounding in the skills required to work more directly with emotions in psychotherapy.  The focus of the program will be experiential, learning how to provide change in core emotional structures. 

Participants receive in depth skill training through a combination of brief lectures, video demonstrations, live modelling, case discussions and extensive supervised role-playing practice. Supervised role-playing practice will involve extensive supervised experiential practice in which participants learn by working as both a client and a therapist in small groups.  Enrollment is strictly limited to 32 participants.

Level Two (August 20 - 23, 2012) 

This Institute provides registrants with more in-depth skill training beyond the introductory Level One Institute and enables discussion of challenges that have emerged in using EFT in each registrant's own clinical practice. 

Participants receive in depth skill training through a combination of brief lectures, video demonstrations, live modelling, case discussions and extensive supervised role-playing practice. Supervised role-playing practice will involve extensive supervised experiential practice in which participants learn by working as both a client and a therapist in small groups.This is a small group training experience and enrollment is limited to 20.

EFT Couples Institute - November 6 - 9, 2012

This 4 day Institute will cover the 5 stage 14 step expanded model of EFT-C focusing on attachment and identity needs and self and other soothing.  As an emotion-focused therapy we focus on how to work with emotions such as anger, sadness, fear and shame.  Participants will be asked to identify key interactional cycles in their own primary relationships and work on undoing these by accessing their own primary underlying emotions in the training.  To maximize this form of experiential learning, enrolment is strictly limited to 27 participants.
